  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water using a sieve until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium pot over medium heat, combine the rinsed rice, coconut milk, water, sugar, and salt. Stir well.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 18 minutes without lifting the lid.
  4. Check for liquid absorption; if necessary, cook for an additional 4 minutes. Once done, remove from heat and let it rest covered for 10 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
