Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into about 8 pieces
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, whisked
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325F (170C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and grease it lightly.
  2. For the brownie layer: Melt butter and dark chocolate in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in sugar, then whisk in eggs one at a time. Fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
  3. For the pumpkin layer: In another bowl, mix pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, egg, vanilla extract, brown sugar, spices, and cornstarch until smooth.
  4. Assemble: Pour half of the brownie batter into the pan. Spread evenly. Layer the pumpkin mixture on top and dollop remaining brownie batter over it. Swirl gently if desired.
  5. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean. Allow cooling before slicing.
